DAY 1: ARRIVE HANOI (D)
Arrive in Hanoi. Meet your guide at Noi Bai Airport and transfer to hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. Dinner and enjoy Water Puppet Show. Stay in Hanoi.
DAY 2: HANOI (B.L.D)
Today city tour includes such sights as Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, the One Pillar Pagoda, and the Fine Art Museum. Then move on to the Temple of Literature, Lake Of Restored Sword and the Old Quarter. In the evening enjoy a traditional Vietnamese water puppet show. Dinner and accommodation.
DAY 3: HANOI – SAPA (B.L.D)
Leave Hanoi by road for the picturesque day’s journey to Sapa, in the far north-western corner of Vietnam, about 245km far from Hanoi. There are some photo stops and short visits to ethnic group villages along the way. Arrive at Lao Cai where you can gaze across the Red River at China on the opposite bank. From Lao Cai the road winds up the terraced hillsides to Sapa, a former French hill resort and home to some of Vietnam’s most colorful ethnic groups. Check into your hotel. Dinner and stay in Sapa.
DAY 4: SAPA (B.L.D)
A morning walking tour of Sapa takes in the busy market where Red Dao, Black H’mong and other hill tribes converge from the surrounding countryside to sell their embroidery, silverware and handicrafts and to buy provisions. In the afternoon visit some of nearby hill tribe villages, such as Cat Cat or Ta Fin. Dinner and stay in Sapa.
DAY 5: SAPA – LAI CHAU (B.L.D)
After breakfast, leave Sapa by road through the stunning mountain scenery to Lai Chau. Visiting Black Thai and Red H’mong villages en route. Arrive in Lai Chau in the late afternoon. Dinner and stay in Lai Chau.
DAY 6: LAI CHAU – DIEN BIEN PHU (B.L.D)
Continue through the hills and valleys to Dien Bien Phu, stopping off at a White Thai Minority Village along the way. Arrive in Dien Bien Phu by noon. Visit the famous A1 Hill, the Army Museum and Thai villages in the vicinity. Dinner and stay in Dien Bien Phu.
DAY 7: DIEN BIEN PHU – SON LA (B.L.D)
Today early start from Dien Bien Phu heading for Son La. The road crosses two mountain passes before the mountain scenery gives way to rice fields and banana plantations. Stop for a lunch break at Tuan Giao and walk over hanging bridges to visit Black Thai villages. Arrive in Son La by noon and visit the former French prison where anti-colonial revolutionaries were once held. Dinner and stay in Son La.
DAY 8: SON LA – MOC CHAU – HANOI (B.L.D)
Leaving Son La early in the morning the road climbs up onto a high plateau where tea and coffee are grown before arriving at the market town of Moc Chau. After a lunch break at Moc Chau proceed to Hanoi. On arrival, check into your hotel. Dinner and stay in Hanoi.
DAY 9: DEPART HANOI (B)
Free at leisure until transferred to Noi Bai Airport for your departure flight.
